The Origin of Summit Sleeve

It started on Mt. Hood in 2022.

My cousin and I had stopped for a short break before ascending the Old Chute. When he stood up, I thought he had pissed himself. The snow beneath him was brown, and his gear was soaked. The culprit? An ice axe secured to the outside of his pack had pressed into the summit beer buried inside, puncturing the can and turning a hard-earned celebration into a sticky mess. We still made it to the summit, but I ended up splitting my beer with him.

A few years later, at the Winona Ice Park, it happened again. Falling ice struck a climber's pack. An hour later, he reached inside to find wet gear and a punctured beer can.

That is when it clicked.

Too many beers have been lost to ice tools, crampons, rocks, and a little bad luck.

Something had to be done.

Summit Sleeve was born to protect our celebrations.

From the beginning, the goal was simple: create something lightweight, durable, and compact - offering real protection while taking up barely more space than the can itself. Because the last thing you should have to worry about on an adventure is whether your summit beer will survive the journey.

A portion of every sale supports Chicago Adventure Therapy and We Strive For Change - helping expand access to transformative outdoor experiences for those who need it most.
